Esthetics

Domain: Biology

Esthetics is the practice of using treatments such as facials, waxing, exfoliation and make-up application to maintain the health and appearance of skin. Estheticians are trained in skin wellness, helping their clients balance oil and moisture content and encourage a healthy, glowing complexion. Estheticians may also offer body treatments such as salt or sugar scrubs, moisturizing or slenderizing body wraps, hair removal techniques such as waxing or threading, and hand/foot treatments.

Estheticians use a variety of treatments and products to help protect skin from environmental hazards and reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and dull, uneven skin tone. Estheticians are also skilled in managing conditions such as acne, rosacea, eczema, and dry skin. In addition to the esthetic benefits, these treatments are wonderfully relaxing and rejuvenating and provide a most nurturing form of stress relief.
